JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in Concert

Jesus Christ Superstar – the only rock opera by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice has been and remains a milestone in musical theater literature and one of the greatest musical successes worldwide. Since its world premiere in 1971 and especially through the legendary film adaptation in 1973, Jesus Christ Superstar has developed into a recurring musical hit that has captivated millions of audiences around the globe – and continues to do so today. Unique songs like "I Don’t Know How to Love Him," "Gethsemane," and "Heaven on Their Minds" are hits that are familiar to all of us. The lyrics by Tim Rice are inspired by the liturgy and, together with the immortal music, allow the audience to immerse themselves in the life of Jesus of Nazareth in a highly emotional way.

Lukas Perman brought the rock classic to the stage for the first time in 2024, and due to the overwhelming response, a revival took place in 2025. Next year, this unique piece will be staged in a new aesthetic! The beloved stars Drew Sarich and Serkan Kaya will reunite after many years as Jesus and Judas on one of the largest stages in Vienna. The two acclaimed artists were last seen together in this masterpiece in 2008.

Star Cast 2026 – The Revival of a Dream Team:

Drew Sarich & Serkan Kaya

The title role of Jesus in this staged concert performance will be played by the celebrated Jesus interpreter Drew Sarich. The American has been based in Vienna for many years and is internationally known for numerous leading roles in the German-speaking world (Hair, Tanz der Vampire, Rudolf, etc.) as well as being a West End and Broadway star.

The role of the antagonist Judas will be interpreted by musical and TV star Serkan Kaya. The Viennese audience remembers him as the legendary Lucheni in Elisabeth, as Galileo in We Will Rock You, and from earlier concert performances of Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas. In recent years, he has risen to fame as an actor and TV star in German television and has received multiple awards, including the Grimme Prize and the German Acting Award in 2021.

The musical direction is in the best hands with Christian Frank. He has been established as an outstanding expert in the genre in Vienna for years. The 11-member band consists of selected professionals and guarantees musical excellence.
