This special chemistry between the two gentlemen is quite clever: When Andy Platts and Shawn Lee connected via Myspace in 2006, they had no idea what creative force their soft rock project Young Gun Silver Fox would develop into. After more than ten years of collaboration, the Brits have built a growing fanbase, which includes notable names like Hans Zimmer and Jeff Lynne. Their Austrian fans can also look forward to an exciting event, as Young Gun Silver Fox will perform at Flex on January 16, 2026!
Shawn Lee, born in the USA and now living in the United Kingdom, is known for his critically acclaimed solo albums as well as being an award-winning producer and multi-instrumentalist. Andy Platts is successful as a songwriter and leader of the popular Brit-soul sensation Mamas Gun. The duo's catchy name is a combination of Andy's status as the youngest band member and Shawn's shiny silver hair. Musically, harmony reigns: The duo indulges in their love for soft pop-soul sounds from the 1970s, drawing inspiration from artists like Ned Doheny, Hall & Oates, and Steely Dan, as well as the breezy West Coast style that is embedded in Shawn's musical DNA.
If their debut album "West End Coast" sparked a musical flame in 2015, the follow-up album "AM Waves" in 2018 fanned the flames further—leading to outstanding live shows and a tour that took them around the world. Platts and Lee continuously worked on their style, with no limits to their creativity. Following the release of their fifth album "Pleasure" in 2025, Andy and Shawn now approach their work with a relaxed and experienced mindset. What happens next is left to fate. "The 'West Coast' vibe was really just a springboard at first," Andy believes. "The more music we make, the more it revolves around what Shawn and I intuitively create together. This way, the working method of the entire project continually evolves naturally."
