Cinderella's Dream

1899: The waltz king Johann Strauss dies. He leaves behind the fragment of a Cinderella ballet. The mysteries surrounding this fragment inspired Axel Ranisch, in preparation for the Strauss anniversary, to create a completely new work. A name serves as the starting point, one that has received little attention so far, although it appears prominently on the first page of the libretto: Ida Grünwald, with the English addition typewriterin. What connection does she have to the alleged librettist of the ballet, whose text offers an astonishingly modern perspective on the old fairy tale? In Cinderella's Dream, the protagonist Cinderella takes us on a journey to her own emancipation, but also into the past of the piece, which intertwines different time levels: from 1899 to the present. The family operetta is a new composition by Martina Eisenreich, who traces the artistic spirit of Johann Strauss and incorporates quotes from the waltz king into the score.
