Just put to bed, the baby cries. Meanwhile, the adults celebrate its first birthday with more than enough wine. The baby cries again. The mother’s best friend says she knows what to do.
But the baby is still crying. Dad's sister and her new boyfriend, 25 years older than she is, know even better what to do. But as the child continues to cry, the adults begin a bitter struggle over life choices and self-images, and unwelcome truths are ruthlessly revealed.
