Eichmann on trial

As the head of the so-called "Jewish Department," Adolf Eichmann organized the persecution, expulsion, and deportation of Jews during the National Socialist regime and was jointly responsible for the murder of six million people. After the war, like many other Nazi perpetrators, he managed to escape to South America via the so-called "rat line." It was only thanks to his abduction from Argentina that he could finally be held accountable for his actions. In the trial that took place in Jerusalem from 1961, under the gaze of the world public, he argued that he was merely a powerless cog in the machinery. Even seasoned thinkers like Hannah Arendt believed they recognized in him primarily the "banality of evil." However, Eichmann tried above all to conceal one thing in court: that he was a committed perpetrator until the very end.

Based on historical transcripts, 80 years after the end of World War II, parts of the trial against Adolf Eichmann, who attended school in Linz, will be reenacted in the jury courtroom of the Linz Regional Court.
