Biber's Violin Sonatas, Part 2 He was the violin star of the 17th century. After the avant-garde 3rd Sonata of his collection, the master adds another surprise. In the 6th Sonata, the violinist must change instruments in the middle of the piece and continue playing in scordatura (tuning of the violin). The 8th Sonata is a trio sonata for 2 violins and basso continuo, but it is performed by a single player. This borders on magic. The Salzburg Lute Consort, violone, organ, and harpsichord provide lush colors and sonorous music-making.
