"Embraced!" The song of a once-persecuted Jewish people. After many years of acquaintance, Franz Froschauer and Max Prenner find each other for the first time on an artistic level in this program. And there is hardly a more fitting place for a premiere than a former synagogue. In words and music, thoughts and life stories of Jewish people are heard, stories that are rarely heard today. Froschauer draws from an impressive repertoire – from scenes from "Eichmann" to originally Yiddish literature by Yizchak Katzenelson, translated by Wolf Biermann ("The Song of the Persecuted Jewish People / Great Song of the Exterminated Jewish People"), as well as other Jewish texts. Max Prenner's musical mosaic "Embraced!" is particularly inspired by Pannonian-Jewish life stories, of which today often only gravestones in Jewish cemeteries bear witness. These are moving songs beyond the Klezmer cliché – songs of children, scholars, loved ones, murdered individuals, and nameless people, who laugh, cry, and groove in Prenner's compositions: sometimes melancholic, sometimes exuberant, sometimes cheerful, sometimes deeply sorrowful.
