Helene, once a celebrated theater diva, lives a reclusive life in a senior residence, where former caregiver and early retiree Toni must recover from a fall. The two women couldn't be more different. Helene confronts her fears with airs and a need for control, while Toni masks her problems with jokes or drowns them in liquor. Together, they embark on a final journey with the goal of seeking legal assisted suicide in Switzerland. A missing driver's license is the least of the obstacles facing the elderly women: Helene's nephew, a conservative politician, sees his career threatened by Helene's plans and pursues them. A tragicomic road movie that seeks to reconcile ambition with frailty.
