Mirjam - Strong as Death is Love
In 2026, the Passion Plays in the quarry of St. Margarethen will celebrate their 100th anniversary. Preparations for the anniversary year are already underway, during which the Passion Plays will reinterpret the well-known story of the life, suffering, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in a completely new way – with a new text, new music, and a new director. The new Passion text, "Mirjam – Strong as Death is Love," written by the director of the Passion Plays St. Margarethen, Pastor Dr. Richard Geier, tells the Passion story for the first time from a female perspective. Mirjam – Mary Magdalene – reflects on Jesus' work 20 years after the events in Bethany and Jerusalem, processing her memories and lingering impressions in conversations with other figures from the Gospel of John.
