The colorful jugglers are back!
In the exhibition houses of the Botanical Garden Linz, you can experience nature in all its splendor even in winter. It will also be colorful in the exhibition house: here, tropical butterflies will once again create a lively atmosphere. There are 15 to 20 different species to admire - a unique opportunity to observe these exotic beauties up close!
Information panels provide insights into the lifestyle and life cycles of butterflies and introduce the most important species.
The butterflies come from controlled breeding farms and arrive at the Botanical Garden as pupae. They display a variety of colors and shapes, some even dazzling with a metallic sheen. They are attached to cork bark and hung up to hatch. With a bit of luck and patience, you can even witness the magical moments of hatching and the inflation of the wings of the freshly emerged butterflies live. After about 30 minutes, the butterflies embark on their maiden flights.
The butterflies are fed with suitable nectar plants as well as fruits and sugary juices, which are offered at feeding stations.
Following the great success of previous years, the butterflies are moving back into the exhibition house. It has once again been transformed into a true butterfly paradise: with special feeding stations, many additional sources of heat and light, a variety of tropical plants, and water features.

The exhibition houses are open daily from 9 AM to 4 PM. The Botanical Garden is closed on December 24, 25, and 31, as well as on January 1!
Please also note that the butterflies must not be touched.
