Andreas Rainer, known as the Vienna Everyday Poet, collects quotes and peculiarities from everyday life in Vienna for over 300,000 followers on social media. His gaze in the city of grand stages is primarily directed at the small alleys, coffee houses, subway stations, and supermarkets, where comedy and tragedy shake hands every day.

After successfully remaining anonymous for years, he stepped onto the stage for the first time in 2025 – and with great success: all performances were completely sold out. Using the most popular quotes from the past eight years, he tells the story of the Vienna Everyday Poets, explains why he is only recognized in Graz or in swim trunks, and presents the most beautiful representatives of the literary genre of stairwell notes.

Furthermore, he attempts to develop a guide on how to survive the most livable city in the world. For how can it be that Vienna is simultaneously the most livable yet also the most unfriendly city in the world? Why do we have the leisure to waste the whole day in a coffee house, yet panic for a second checkout when three people are ahead of us in the supermarket?

Through images, texts, and quotes from everyday life in Vienna, Andreas Rainer paints a picture of a city where one throws around splendor while just twenty meters away, the world is already falling apart.

Now for the first time in Linz, a city with which the Everyday Poet has been connected for decades and which itself boasts plenty of poetic potential.
