Matthias Hartmann is staging The Robbers anew and transforming the play into a multimedia experience. The actors move between virtual spaces and interact with pre-recorded sequences. In this way, a film is created live on stage – with eight cameras, special effects, and specially composed film music.
Regarding the content: Schiller first published the play in 1781, which tells the story of two brothers – one a traitor, the other someone who wishes for good but creates evil, and in the end, out of despair, murders his girl.
