Since its founding in the Detroit metropolitan area, Michigan, in 2013, the metalcore/post-hardcore band I Prevail has celebrated enormous success. Their debut album, "Lifelines," released in 2016, achieved gold status in both the USA and Canada, while "TRAUMA," released in 2019, repeated this success in Canada. The latter was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys that same year, and the single "Bow Down" was also in the running for Best Metal Performance. With "TRUE POWER," released in 2022, the band continued on their own musical path, refusing to conform to the expectations of the genre. With their fourth album, "Violent Nature," the band has now taken another step forward. It was recorded in two stages at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and produced by bassist and keyboardist Jon Eberhard himself. It is also the first album on which singer Eric Vanlerberghe takes on both clean vocals and screams as the sole vocalist of the band. It hits hard. The album's first single, also titled "Violent Nature," may be the most brutal, extreme, and wildest song the band has ever released. However, not everything is as brutal or intense. Although the single "Rain" is anything but gentle, the powerful, anthemic chorus of the song feels like a lullaby in comparison, despite hints of the same rage and anguish in the lyrics. Nevertheless, it illustrates the two very different sides of this album and the opposing forces that run through it. Welcome to the new era of I Prevail. This is not only the best version of the band so far, but it also brims with intention, passion, and energy.
