THE GATE OF THE GODS is a rare gem of the operetta repertoire, a curiosity. With light-footed wit and Lehár's musical spirit, the composer and his librettists take on Greek mythology. The world premiere in 1904 was met with great acclaim. In search of a spectacular story for a new theater piece, theater director Mäandros personally approaches Father Jupiter. He is quickly convinced – he wants to experience the material for the theatrical sensation himself and secretly mingles with mortals alongside Mercury, only to ultimately be seduced by none other than his own wife, Juno. The Lehár Festival presents this delightful gem semi-staged for the first time on the Bad Ischl stage. Look forward to a delightful emotional chaos, framed by Lehár's touching, inventive compositions.
