Experience wild catch and regionality up close with the professional fishing operation Mayr. Professional fishing is one of the oldest crafts in the world, practiced by only a few today. What it means to catch fish with a net, how a fisherman learns to live in harmony with nature, and what the value of wild catch entails—these are just some of the insights that Benjamin Mayr aims to share with his guests during the fishing guidings.
The adventure begins at the authentic fisherman's hut on the eastern shore of Lake Traun, where there is a brief introduction to professional fishing. After that, we head out onto the lake with the fishing boat.
Fish nets will be lifted, and the biodiversity of Lake Traun will be showcased.
Back at the hut, traps will be pulled, and crab catching will be demonstrated. Right in front of the cozy fisherman's hut, four different dishes made from the freshly caught wild fish will be prepared. Dishes such as grilled fish on a charcoal grill with fresh bread, grilled crayfish, and ceviche made from lake char will be prepared right in front of the guests.
