Escalation machines

A production by FLYING OPERA in co-production with Theater am Werk World Premiere Direction: Bernd Liepold-Mosser Escalation is the ultimate linguistic practice of the new extreme right. Its goal is to achieve maximum emotionalization in the quickest way possible. This results in polarizing narratives that succeed with high effectiveness and maximum click rates on social media, stirring up people's resentments beyond facts and arguments. Under the guise of free speech, they ignite shit-storms of outrage and unleash avalanches of prejudice and contempt. With the attention economy of algorithms, they keep their "radicalization machines" (Julia Ebner) running. Yet their success is misguided. The project deconstructs the rhetorical strategies of far-right politics using the means of linguistic-musical performance, exposing them to ridicule in all their abyssal danger.
