BUTTERFLIES IN THE EAR

Antoine, a handsome history teacher in his early fifties, is an extraordinary ignoramus. He even ignores the morning ringing of his alarm clock. His neighbor Claire is driven to madness by the deafening noise he makes. Her outbursts roll off Antoine mercilessly – just like everything else in this world. It is only when he ignores the fire alarm at school that Antoine is forced to confront the humiliating truth: he is almost deaf. With the use of hearing aids, a new world soon opens up to him, but it brings not only joy. This accessory for the elderly simply does not fit with his self-image as a young-at-heart man. Even worse for him is that he suddenly hears everything he had previously been able to blissfully ignore.
