Bernhard Rennhofer - Engineering Tour Vienna

My name is Bernhard, I am a civil engineer, and I love Vienna. But don't worry, I'm not one of those civil engineers who can only read plans and talk for hours about statics (well, I could do that too – but don't worry, I'll hold back). On my tours through Vienna, I will take you into the fascinating world of historical and current construction sites – from a perspective you have definitely never experienced before.

How was the subway station at Karlsplatz built? Why is the main train station crooked? And why is there a huge crack in the dome of the Hofburg? Together, we will take a look behind the scenes of construction and discover the secrets that are embedded in stone, steel, and sometimes even concrete. But that's not all: I will also explain how the buildings were planned and constructed and what technical challenges had to be overcome.
