Good Friday service

Easter is the highlight of the church year in Christian churches. Good Friday is the first day of the so-called "Triduum Sacrum," the three-day celebration of Easter in Christianity. On Good Friday, Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in the form of a service. The name of the holiday derives from the Old High German term "kara," which means "sorrow" or "lament."

In many Protestant churches, there is also a tradition of not ringing the church bells on this day. Often, in Protestant churches (as well as in Catholic churches), altar decorations such as candles or flowers are largely omitted. According to Protestant tradition, the liturgical color of the day is black or violet.
