Somehow, we humans are quite tightly gripped by auxiliary verbs. Not the words themselves, but what they describe strongly determines the terrain in which our actions take place; can, must, and want. Whoever knows and can do everything but wants nothing will do nothing. Well, unless he has to. But then he will only do it for as long as he has to. And if he knows and can do everything, he will arrange things so that he has to do less and less, and over time, he will end up doing nothing at all. Living like that, well, you really have to want it.
