Herb tour in the gardens of the historic Carthusian Monastery Mauerbach with Michaela Hörl

The Kartause Mauerbach is a former Carthusian monastery and, with its historic buildings and garden areas, is a true treasure of contemporary history. A highlight is the Baroque Emperor's Garden, which was likely established in the mid-17th century. It was reconstructed in the 1990s. Only symbolic and medicinal plants that can be traced back to the end of the 18th century were used for the planting, including old varieties of roses.

In contrast to the Baroque and geometrically arranged Emperor's Garden, the Cross Garden in the heart of the Kartause is currently inhabited by many wild herbs.

Certified herbal educator and author Michaela Hörl will guide you through the gardens and present various applications and processing possibilities of plants, shrubs, and trees for health and well-being. Interesting facts about the history of the plants, anecdotes from the herbal educator's long experience, as well as amusing and intriguing insights into customs will round off this educational walk through the diverse grounds.

Those interested in the Kartause can visit the grounds and buildings after the herbal tour. There are also ongoing special exhibitions on monument preservation. Admission is already included in the price of the herbal tour.

About the organizer: Michaela Hörl has been conveying the value of native nature as a herbal educator and author for over 10 years. She organizes seminars and herbal walks in the Wienerwald region, guides tours through the gardens of the Kartause Mauerbach, and organizes and leads the charity event "Kreitl’n für an guad’n Zweck" at the Stift Heiligenkreuz, which she initiated. She also shares insights for a holistic nature experience in her popular online newsletter, the "Jahreskreispost."
