Pickert – Rural Tradition on February 6th with Slow Food in the Sheep Barn Bad Essen

Slow Food values regionality and honest food – and Pickert is a topic! This potato dish from Westphalian/Lippian cuisine and neighboring areas such as the Osnabrück region has been around since about the 18th century. It was primarily a meal for the poorer population, as the main ingredients like potatoes, flour, eggs, milk, or cream usually came from their own farms. There are different types of Pickert: the Lappenpickert, the Westphalian Pickert, and the Kastenpickert.

On this evening, guests will learn everything they want to know about Pickert – and they will take the recipe home with them. After an introductory lecture, there will be a tasting of Kastenpickert at the long table, accompanied by regional side dishes such as jam, cranberries, applesauce, beet syrup, liver sausage, butter, and herb cream cheese.

The event starts at 6 PM, with a limited number of participants.
