Buchteln (Czech, Slovak, Silesian buchty), also known as Wuchteln, Ofennudeln, Beinzla, or Rohrnudeln (in Bavaria and the Palatinate), are a sweet pastry that can be filled or unfilled and is baked in the oven. Buchteln are considered a typical dish of Czech cuisine; they are also widely found, sometimes under different names, in Austrian, Bavarian, Palatine, Saxon, Swabian, and Silesian cuisine, as well as in Slovenian cuisine. Due to the use of yeast dough and the shape of the pastry, there is a close relationship to Dampfnudeln and Germknödel, which are, however, prepared in different ways.
