The biennial exhibition series "Fügungen" brings together two artists each time with the intention of getting to know each other personally and artistically within the Innviertel Artists' Guild. This year, all exhibitions of the IKG are under the annual theme "Twenty-six and Twenty." In line with this theme, two artists were selected whose works prominently feature the human body. The two artists were invited to choose one male exhibition partner each for the "Fügungen" exhibition in the Schlossgalerie.
The participating artists are Heide-Maria Has and Alexander Flotzinger, Simone Thurner and Stefan Esterbauer.
In Heide-Maria Has's artistic work, observations of human existence in all its manifestations can be found, as well as depictions of nature that she collects during her travels. She often processes the relationship between the individual and society. Using techniques such as charcoal drawing and etching, she showcases both the delicacy and expressiveness of her line work.
Alexander Flotzinger's work is based on the exploration of wood as a material, carrier of form, and level of meaning. Often created using traditional carving techniques, reliefs and sculptures emerge in which organic and technical form principles intertwine. A particular focus is on delicate structures that stand in tension with the massiveness and physicality of the wood.
In Simone Thurner's paintings, movement and constant change are the only constants. Accordingly, the figures, usually life-sized and depicted in oil paintings, convey liveliness. The motion blur partially dissolves boundaries and shows the human being in their actions, searching, and striving.
Stefan Esterbauer's work title for the series produced for the exhibition is "completely Schärding on its feet." Buildings and distinctive architectural elements are given legs, and the respective function and location of the building are emphasized by their footwear. For example, the water gate wears rubber boots, and the church tower is adorned with purple trousers... With his houses standing on legs, he creates a unique and humorous homage to Schärding.
Curated by Pamela Ecker, Anita Selinger, and Andreas Sagmeister for the Innviertel Artists' Guild.
