When we know again which plants belong to which group of vegetables, cultivation will be very simple. Essentially, for the past 10,000 years, we have only selected our vegetables from 10 plant families. If we know which "house" they come from, we can provide much more precisely and achieve success in a completely relaxed manner.
The respective vegetable families have favorite neighbors. They protect each other from pests, support root growth, enhance flavor, ripen better, and can be stored for significantly longer. Additionally, the families support each other while growing, cover the ground, cast shade, utilize space in the garden perfectly, and protect and fertilize each other. Knowing how, permaculture offers numerous tips on how we can harvest well and nourish ourselves (deliciously) with minimal resources (water, fertilizer, soil, time, effort).
