"Malspiel im Malort" translates to "Painting Game in the Painting Place."

Since 2013, the 1st Welser Malort has been operating in the Medien Kultur Haus under the direction of Heidi Schweitzer. Weekly, people aged between three and ninety gather to paint with high-quality colors without any guidelines or evaluation. The paper serves as a playground, initiating a painting game. It is not a random, arbitrary outburst, nor is it therapy, but rather preventive therapy, as it fosters abilities that lead to the development and strengthening of personality. The painting game takes place in a specially designated room, the Malort, where bright, high-quality gouache paints and special squirrel hair brushes are available. Painting is done while standing, with large sheets of paper pinned to the wall, alongside other painters. In the Malort, painting occurs beyond the notions of "talented" or "untalented," without instruction or evaluation, regardless of whether one is a child or already an adult. The painting game can provide relaxation and stability. It strengthens personality and self-confidence and promotes initiative, concentration, and mindful interaction.
