"Maypole Raising" - an Old Spring Tradition

Traditionally, a maypole is erected every year on April 30th in many districts of Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee.

The annual raising of the maypole adorned with ribbons is a customary festival for locals and guests alike.

The donated maypole is traditionally raised by hand with the help of long poles.

Craftsmanship, Tradition, and Customs

Preserving the old craftsmanship, customs, and traditions is an important concern for the locals in Gosau, Bad Goisern, Obertraun, and Hallstatt.
